It all started with a New York trip, unwanted bad date memories, and a love for the entrepreneurial lifestyle!...
Coming from a small town in Saskatchewan, my dating life was quite boring and unoriginal. Most of my dates followed a predictable routine: getting picked up, heading to a restaurant or pub, engaging in small talk, and then heading home. Occasionally, there'd be a movie or maybe some mini golf thrown in if I was lucky. The dating scene in Calgary didn't seem much different, to be honest.

However, my entire outlook on dating shifted in early 2023 when I experienced a date that was refreshingly different from my usual outings. It was a seemingly simple date, yet it felt completely novel to me. He picked me up and took me to a beautiful restaurant with live music. We enjoyed a meal, sipped champagne, danced until the music stopped, and then decided to continue the fun with karaoke. To many, this might sound like a regular Friday night, but for a girl accustomed to simpler dates, it was an extraordinary experience.

What made it special wasn't the activities themselves but how they made me feel. That entire evening pushed me out of my comfort zone. In just seven hours, I found myself learning so much about myself while being with someone who was, at that time, practically a stranger. The whole night introduced me to a new perspective on dating, but more importantly, it redefined romance for me.
In July 2023, I took a trip to New York with the same guy who had swept me off my feet. The trip was amazing, but there was something missing. I had this strong desire to experience a place in New York with live music, a black-tie dress code, and uniquely crafted cocktails. Surprisingly, despite being in New York, we couldn't find such a spot. Even our concierge, who had been incredibly helpful with other recommendations, didn't know where to send us.

When we returned home from New York, I was still serious in working on my other business venture. Unfortunately, I hit a major roadblock and had to face the reality that it didn't have the future I had envisioned for it over the past three years. Feeling defeated and disappointed by the unexpected ending, I began contemplating a shift out of that industry and into something new.
​
Right at that moment, my mind drifted back to my incredible New York experience, and wishing I had someone to reach out to send me to places and experiences completely tailored to what I wanted.
​
That's when I realized: 'That's something I wish Calgary had too!' and that's when I created Plan You a Date!
